My thought about all of this is that Mira had two dysfunctional teammates, and she tried to make things work by putting them both into support role. Arim was non-combat, Evilyn was ranged attacks. When you removed Mira, that required both of them to adapt- but also made their dysfunctions clear.
Instead, Mira now will have to get them to both change. To stop trying to do everything by herself.
I was not expecting it, but the foreshadowing was there. This is related to "Mr. McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry," but is triggered not by anger, but by pain. Evilyn SMASH!
Going the hulk way is fun. Lots of back and forth there. Specially when we find the inner evie.
On a second note. Annie probably didn't lie much as a child. Her mother being who she is could probably tell. Though now that I think about it does this mean that biologically Annie has a resistance to telepathic abilities. Ones that she has to be concious to enact? I mean even if she didn't inherit a semblance of her mother's powers or she didn't biologically develop a resistance to them it be a little weird for her mom not to include some mental defenses or training. Especially since she had to go to public school.
