The almost naked suit transformation.

Hmm... it's not a magical transformation... or is it? The rings have much less mass and weight than the rings... Will the transformation get explained later on? (I guess the ring-suit covers the normal clothes... but how much clothing can it cover? A long skirt might create a difficulty.)

I'm not sure it'll ever be explained. I'd like to think that in the past there were scientists who were given the freedom to do whatever they wanted, and they were almost insane, and could come up with things no rational person could.

Maybe we'll find out how much it can hold during a winter part of the story, but I'd think it can take as much as it needs.

OK - that's nearly magical, I guess.

Technically they don't have to be magical. If the ring is more of a signal that keeps the rest of the tech in a small pocket dimension like the green Lantern hiding their power batteries. The signal from the watch keeps the armor around them or in the vicinity of the wearer. That way extra gear can be implanted or kept in hammerspace till it's needed.

The thing might not be kept in hammerspace. It might go to a real physical place. Maybe it's just a teleporter and it switches the wearer's clothes with the suit.

The might eventually find the end point somewhere.
